The number one reason why the GSW lost game 1 is rust. With 9 days rest, it's too much, and they suddenly encountered the Raptors that had top notch defense and high morale, so they lost. BTW, I disagree with the opinion that the GSW was too small at the back court. The Ratpors had very small guards (Lowry is 6-1, VanVleet is only 6', while Curry is 6-3 & Cook is 6-2, plus Cook only played 9 minutes). Livingston is 6-7 with long arm (but not strong). The GSW actually won on rebounding with 2 more offensive rebounds (9 to 7). In fact, the situation will change in game 2 when the GSW will adjust to the Raptors' style of defense, plus they will be less rusty, plus the morale of the Raptors won't be as strong etc. I actually will give the GSW a slightly better chance (55%?) of winning game 2, unless Kawhi can regain his shooting rhythm. Kawhi only averaged ~45% shooting in his last 11 games, down from his 49.6% season average, and way down from his early playoff shooting, and he only shot 35.7%(5/14) in game 1! If the Raptors cannot win the rebounding battle, they will have less chance of winning the series. ... |
